Questions and Answers
How much snow does this electric cordless snow blower move?
This electric cordless single stage snow blower has a steel auger and two rubber blades that according to spec will be able to shift around 500 Lbs of snow per minute. This machine can blow clear a path about 18 inches wide and 8 inches deep.
A scraper bar at the bottom lets you clear the snow down to ground level without it damaging decks or driveways. The rubber blades also prevent damage.
Does the snow chute always rotate during operation?
The auto-rotating snow chute is activated by pushing a switch. The snow chute throws its stream of snow up to almost 20 feet away from you.
Handy Feature : Let there be more light! If you find yourself needing to snow throw at night – this machine features a little LED headlight that will switch on to help you make it through a night time snow blowing session. |
Tell me more about the battery and motor.
This Snow Joe electric snow thrower with wheels uses a 40 Volt EcoSharp rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It should provide you with about 3/4 of an hours worth of operating time before you’ll need to recharge the battery again. One should be able to get a lot done in that time window.
The brushless motor design offers more efficient operation and longer motor life. The 500W motor is no slouch and does a good job of clearing snow from driveways and decks.

Notes on Quality and Operation
Having this 1 stage snow blower run off of battery power means you don’t have to battle pull cords or have to worry about filling it with gas or oil. You won’t even need to turn the garage upside down to find that extension lead you were using just last week and can’t seem to find now.
This seems to be a quality, inexpensive snow blower and a good snow blower for home use. The company that makes these Snow Joe electric snow blower machines also manufactures other garden machines under the Sun Joe name brand. You can read one of my Sun Joe lawn mower reviews here.

Questions and Answers
How much operating time will the battery give you?
You should be able to get at least half an hour to up to three quarters of an hour of operation from the snow thrower battery before you need to hook it up to a charger again. It also depends on how thick the snow is you are clearing. Deeper drifts will require more power to clear and will consequently draw more life out of the battery causing it to drain quicker.
Keep in mind : Extreme cold temperatures can have an effect on battery operation, so try and park this snowblower in the garage or shed out of the elements between uses. |
Can I use the battery from my GreenWorks lawn mower in this snow blower?
You should be able to, some other users have done this with success. Just quickly compare the relevant specs on both batteries to be on the safe side.
How long does the battery take to recharge?
It can take up to 2 hours to fully recharge, giving you plenty of time to grab a cup of coffee.

Notes on Quality and Operation
As stated above, wet heavy snowfalls may present a bit of a challenge. This machine does not have the physical weight it needs to quickly go through such drifts, even though the motor may be capable. You will have to go slow and sometimes stop and start forward again on such heavy layers of snow in order to give the blower sufficient time to clear the heavy snow.
Cordless Electric Snow Blowers – Final Thoughts
Using one of these cordless electric snow blowers is quicker and easier than shoveling snow with a spade. They can also be more reliable at start up after a long period of inactivity than gas powered snowblowers sometimes. Especially when taking a gas snow blower for a spin again after it sitting in a shed the whole of the summer months.
Both the Snow Joe iON 18SB cordless electric snow blower and the GreenWorks 26272 G-MAX 40V 20-Inch Cordless Snow Thrower are very evenly matched features wise, so recommending one over the other is almost impossible. They weight about the same, uss the same type of batteries and have a rotating shute and LED Lights. Both are single stage snow blowers.
These two snow blowers are some of the best value snow blowers on the market right now. So, instead I think I will recommend them both, with maybe a slight preference for the Snow Joe iON model. My advice is to see on which one of these blowers you can get the best deal!
